New Year's Resolutions, Knitter Style!

Well, another year has come and gone and it's time to make a few resolutions for the new year.  I don't usually make resolutions because it's just plain depressing when I don't follow through on them, but this year I have decided to make a list of Knitter's New Year Resolutions.  :)

1.  Learn to knit continental style.  I have been wanting to do this for years.  I'm a pretty fast knitter anyway, so gaining speed isn't really the issue.  I do think that it will save wear and tear on my right wrist and hand so perhaps I will gain a few extra years of knitting.  I am also wanting to learn to do color work, which leads to the next resolution...

2.  Learn to do two-handed color work.  I've done fair isle work before, but always using just my right hand to carry the yarn.  This is the year I learn to do it more efficiently!  I have been wanting to do this pattern for ages, and by golly I'm going to do it the right way!

3.  Sort and organize my stash!  I have a head-start on this already because I've done some "raw" sorting by tossing yarns into boxes based on type, brand, etc.  My needles and notions are a mess, though.  I made myself an organizer for my circulars last year - this year I'm going to make another one for straights and a third for double points.  I'm also going to sort my notions into some sort of organizer so I can find them easily, and restock as I go.  Where do all of those markers go, anyway?  Maybe where the missing socks are?

4.  Sort out my UFOs and finish the ones worth finishing.  I'm one of those knitters who adore starting new projects but I'm not very good about actually finishing things.  It's time to go through all those old UFOs and get rid of any that I just don't like anymore.  No more torturing myself with guilt about projects that I've started and have decided they just aren't for me.  After that I'll take a stab at actually finishing the rest off ... or at least finishing a couple of them.

There... I think that's enough for starters.  Yeah, I still would like to lose some weight, get in shape, yada yada yada, but THIS year I'm not going to put that kind of pressure on myself.  Maybe if I don't make myself feel guilty about it I'll be more likely to actually do it?  We shall see...
